About Mohamed Tohami

In this blog, you'll find simple living ideas that fall midway between extreme frugality & minimalism and the hoarder’s extreme fear of deprivation. That’s where ordinary folks live and desire to enjoy more with less without being criticized, judged or lectured for not being an ‘extreme’ minimalist. Look at me as a normal person who is frustrated by the radical minimalism tips out there and has decided to document and share his midway simple living ideas and experiments with you. Enjoyed the show. Beth was spot on with her comments about “limits”. I try to use only 75% of cabinet, drawer and closet space. It allows the areas to breathe. And, like most everyone else, I try to follow the “one in-one out” rule. One other thing that I have been trying to do is to look at things that I am “using up” and questioning myself as to whether the item is a candidate for replacement, or not. You would be amazed at how many things that we think we need, we do not.

The 75% rule is one of my favorites. Like you said, it allows the areas to breathe :)

And I never felt guilty buying new stuff as long as I’m following the one-in-one-out rule.

Thanks a lot Kimberly for enriching the conversation with your smart tips and suggestions.

Good information today as usual – but wow did Beth sounded distracted & stressed.

Thanks Jane for your encouraging feedback as usual :) I didn’t feel that she was stressed. May be she got distracted when the phone rang in the background, but it didn’t last long. Her blog is very interesting, you might want to check it.

Well I tried to leave a reply – but looks like I may have accidentally deleted my own post. Anyways, let me try again.
I suppose I did leave a rather unintentionally abrupt comment earlier. I should have elaborated a bit more in that I thought poor Beth sounded a bit frazzled when the cellphone rang. The irony was that this particular podcast post was talking about creating a saner simpler life. A great example of just how real life exerts itself upon us with no warning – kinda like the unexpected cellphone ringing during her interview! She held in there like a trooper!
Anyways, Beth has been one of my fav blog reads for quite some time now! She really has a way of explaining things in such a way that is both obtainable & relatable to a wide audience.

Yeah! Sometimes life throws on us unexpected things. We need to be mindful and calm as we deal with these unexpected things. Thanks Jane for the elaborated comment. I think Beth will like this one more :)

Love this! It’s so important not to stress the small stuff. Life is better without negativity and drama. And we can stop it from interfering in our lives.
