Thanks Lana. I’m glad you like the interview. Tammy is a great source of inspiration for me too.

Hi Tohami and Tammy, I think I enjoyed this interview most of all. Maybe that is because Tammy and I seem to have very similar views.

Due to my decluttering efforts in 2010 I soon learned to shop less. This freed up our finances so that 9 months into our simplification process I quit my part time job because I wasn’t happy there and we didn’t need the money. Fortunately my husband has a good well paid job that he does enjoy.

Three days later my son had a terrible cycling accident in which he received a serious brain injury. Fortunately he made a speedy recovery considering the severity of his injury. During that time not only was I free to spend every day with him in the hospital ~ for the month that is took to be able to bring him home ~ but my husband also was able to take a month of long service leave so we could be there to support each other.

I am so glad for Tammy that she had the same sort of opportunity to spend time with her dad before he passed away and was able to be there to support her mother as well. There are many people who can’t afford this opportunity, some because they are doing it tough and just can’t but others because they simply have their priorities wrong.

Isn’t it great how simple living gives us the opportunity to stay close to the people that matter?

When we simply our lives, it becomes easier to properly set our priorities. We can SEE better.

    Oh my what an inspiration!

This is yet another shot of inspiration to keep me focused on what matters!

I’ve been hyper-focused lately on decluttering with no goal in sight other than less stuff, but it occurred to me not long ago that less stuff isn’t necessarily the goal – if it was then I wouldn’t keep moving the goalposts further & further away.

While I’m not 100% yet sure what the/my goal really is for me & my situation, I do know that with each item I declutter do I get closer & closer to being able to answer that question.

YES. When you remove the unnecessary, you will give a chance for what truly matters to speak.

A great interview, Mohamed. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tammy is an inspiration to identify what is most important in life and discard that which isn’t.

Yes, she is great. She walks her talk and that’s why her words go straight to the heart of the listener.

Who is paying the property tax for the property her tiny house is located on?

    • Mohamed Tohami October 3, 2012 at 9:38 am #

Interesting question. I will leave it for Tammy to answer :)

I loved the interview. She did something a lot of us don’t think about. We all dream about the bigger house and a lavish life style. However she did the opposite and got to spend time with her dad. One life pulls you away from family and friends, where the other brings them together.
    Love it
