How To Turn Your Intentions Into Actions

This is a guest post by Andrea Briggs from The Inside Thread Studio

What do you wish for yourself, community, world?

Simplicity? Better health? Greater awareness?

Do you know you can imagine, design, create, and establish new mental thoughts {habits} which will allow you to create ripples of love & kindness and fuel the very own aspirations for simplicity and wellness you desire?

Intentions are short positive statements that revolve around…

purpose, objective, object, goal, target; design, plan, scheme; wish, desire, ambition, idea, aspiration, purpose or attitude toward the effect of one’s actions or conduct

Regardless of the complexity or immediate impact, our thoughts can become powerful and helpful ways to create action.

If we desire to create action {change} through everyday personal actions of the body, speech, and mind we must develop and keep an intention within.

For example, an intention gives us a foundation for moving forward to an action. Say we have an intention to create something that will give others an opportunity to be better at a new skill. We first have to have a strong relationship with that intention…building the foundation of what we need to complete to make it a reality.

Intention is everything..

  • It guides us
  • Creates a meaningful desire
  • Promotes us to aspire to dreams
  • Intentions lead to actions

When we have a strong intention about something there is a pathway to action created immediately. Intentions are the blocks that make up the road to actions. Intentions are made up of our goals, plans, designs, dreams, wishes, passions, and aspirations of what we want to be.

Examine Thoughts

I believe an intention is something deeper than just a general thought. It is bound to the inner self and the harmonious relationship you have with the cause, desire, or purpose the intention has. If our daily thoughts towards the intention are clouded by negative feelings, doubts, fears, or anxiety, then we must begin to slowly replace those negative emotions with positive ones.

Write it down – write down your intention word for word with feeling and attitude…you can even write it over and over and over again!

Make it a mantra – during the day repeat the intention as you walk, work, grocery shop, whenever! Just think of all the random useless thoughts traveling through the mind daily and replace at least one of them with a powerful intention!

Visualize the intention as though it really exists – Make the intention real. If the intention is to write a book, create a charity, build a shed for an elderly neighbor then see it as though it is existing! Live it. VISUALIZE it. Participate in it!

Expand Attitude

Each of us can create simplicity in life by allowing positive attitudes into our body, speech, and mind. With so much bad news plastered on T.V., internet, magazines, and any other outlet you can think of, itʼs no wonder why finding positive intentions are hard to create. Expand awareness and attitude to positive and good news and information, itʼs out there and a lot of it!

Keeping our attitude open, kind, uplifting, and compassionate allows us to create new mental habits of being. We have all ready trained ourselves very well in the negative thoughts, doubts, fears, and anxieties of daily life, so always keep intentions positive!

Remember, outlook and attitude expand like energy. They create ripples to others who notice how we think, speak, and act each day. Our intentions should always be for the benefit of all living things including ourselves!

Results Are Always Possible

Everyday there are amazing and positive stories being created, intentions that have been brought to life by attitude, awareness, and sheer love. Solutions are being created, thoughts are turning into projects of kindness and joy. Creativity is blossoming and innovating daily life. Never think youʼre just an island in a sea of people. Everything is connected. Your intentions are powerful for creating better daily habits in simplicity, joy, creativity, and gratitude.

Intentions give us the fuel to create actions.

These methods help not to just make intentions come alive, but they help us to build new positive relationships in the mind!

    Hi Andrea,

Our intentions I have found are very important. The thing is, we have to be aware of them. If not, we tend to work on an auto-pilot where those intentions can be based on past needs and not appropriate for now. And that can be bad.

It has to be a conscious effort, so writing it down as you say is very important. Ultimately, we have to do the work, and to have an intention to make sure our intentions are the right ones :)

    Thanks for the post.

Writing our intentions down is the first form of manifestation. And as you said, the most important thing is to make sure that our intentions are the right ones and that they are matching with our heart’s desires.

Thanks Keith for your insightful comment.

Anything is possible! As a fitness trainer, I meet so many people who say they really want to be healthy and lose weight, but they can’t. There is no such thing as can’t! Anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. One step leads to the ultimate action.
