Midway Simplicity Tips of The Week: Comfort, Expenses, Liberation

I’m thinking of starting a weekly post featuring Midway Simplicity Tips of The Week.

In this type of post, I’m going to share with you quick and easy tips & ideas to help you simplify and enjoy more with less, without being too harsh on your lifestyle.

If you like today’s post, I will make it a regular routine to write a “Tips of The Week” post every Thursday.

Here are this week’s tips:

  1. When you simplify, stay comfortable. Otherwise, you’ll feel that you’re sacrificing too much.
  2. The secret to simple living is to make quick experiments and repeat what works for you.
  3. When you minimize your needs, you create a room for endless possibilities.
  4. Today’s security comes from reducing your expenses and turning your passion into multiple streams of income that don’t rely on a corporate job.
  5. Stop unnecessary purchases.
  6. Minimize what you buy.
  7. Stop buying on credit.
  8. Consider biking over driving, whenever possible.
  9. Simplicity won’t make you feel deprived. Instead, you’ll feel liberated.
  10. Don’t save pennies and ignore where the real dollars go.

“Don’t spend $$ just to save a few pennies. Driving across town just to save fifteen cents on a bar of soap is not frugal, it is stupid.” – Annie Brewer, author of The Shoestring Girl

Do you like this type of posts? Would you like to make it a regular routine every Thursday?

I need all the encouragement I can get. I love this post. Weekly or daily would be great.

I am also in on this type of post, but I can’t imagine 10 a week! Being gentle with oneself is, I think paramount for many people. I am a bit older than the average bear on these sites, so I’ve a bit more experience – and have always had rather simple tastes anyway. I very much appreciate your blog EVERY day. Thursday is an excellent choice as I think it provides encouragement for the weekend, for those who observe it.

Sure, don’t ever pressure yourself. You can choose what is appealing and relevant to you from these tips and ignore the rest.

Everyone is different. Some tips will appeal to one person and some will not. Just pick one tip that’s most useful and relevant to you.

As you said, being gentle with oneself is the key to succeed in simplifying your life.

Fabulous idea, Mohamed. Most of us love tips, especially if it is something we have never tried or thought of in the past. Go for it!

Thanks for the encouragement Kimberley. I’ll go for it :)

Thanks for the tips! I would enjoy getting them once a week, The tips are just enough to keep you on track and help stay focused without feeling bogged down with too much to read and digest.

That’s exactly what I thought of. We just need practical tips that keep us on track and remind us of our pursuit of simple living. Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Tip #4 resonate with me tremendously. I quit my corporate job but it took a lot of courage and internal/external resistance before I as able to make the move. However, I am so much happier now turning my passion of fitness into my own business. It taught me to “start from scratch” – I had to re budget, refocus what I am spending on, declutter, reogranize…all the qualites you speak of here on this blog. It forces you to appreciate the small and simple things.
