Welcome to this new edition of the Midway Simplicity Tips of The Week.

Enjoy!

  1. When you travel, look for locals to guide you.
  2. Probably, the best thing you can do till the new year is to reflect and play.
  3. Try The Reverse 100 Thing Challenge and dumb 100 things before the end of the year.
  4. Apply the peak-end rule to reduce your travel expenses and maximize your experience.
  5. Declutter your home insight: Can you describe your kitchen as follows: “The kitchen is the castle. This is where we spend our happiest moments and find the joy of being family.”– Mario Batali ?
  6. Organizing tip: At your home, everything should have a home.
  7. Finish your unfinished jobs and start the new year with a clean and empty plate.
  8. Let go of the things that don’t make you happy.
  9. When you travel, buy items from non-toursit locations.
  10. “Declutter something you got for free.” – Colleen Madsen
  11. “The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”– Ralph Waldo Emerson … That’s why I plan to write more about simplicity principles next year.

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite simplicity blog of the year.

About Mohamed Tohami

In this blog, you'll find simple living ideas that fall midway between extreme frugality & minimalism and the hoarder’s extreme fear of deprivation. That’s where ordinary folks live and desire to enjoy more with less without being criticized, judged or lectured for not being an ‘extreme’ minimalist. Look at me as a normal person who is frustrated by the radical minimalism tips out there and has decided to document and share his midway simple living ideas and experiments with you. Thanks for the great tips.
The peak-end link was pretty interesting & quite spot on actually.

The tip about asking a local. We’ve been set up by locals & knew they were setting us up & thankfully we ignored their lame advice.

But then again, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by asking locals. It’s all the the delivery. If you walk up & say “Howdy, we’re not from ’round here…can yall recommend a (fillintheblank)? Then you aren’t gonna get much out of that. But, if you go with the “Hey how are you?” & mean it approach, then things usually go much better.

I love the ip for finishing all the unfinished projects before the end of the year! I am just working on my list of everything I want to finish in the next 9 days!
To be honest there is a little teeny tiny bit of anxiety that is bubbling up saying “then what” maybe I need to look at why i need to have an ongoing list of stuff to do??!! haha
